Homemade Tru Fru
If you love Trü Frü but not the price tag, this homemade version is such a fun and easy alternative. Fresh raspberries are coated in layers of dark and white chocolate for a sweet, fruit-forward treat that tastes surprisingly close to the original. They’re simple to make, perfect to keep in the freezer for when a sweet craving hits, and cost about half the price of store-bought. A little chocolate, a little fruit, and honestly… a very dangerous combination in the best way.
Homemade Trü Frü
Ingredients:
1 cup fresh raspberries (about 35 raspberries)
1/2 cup white chocolate chips
1/2 cup dark or semisweet chocolate chips
1 tbsp coconut oil*
Other: a straw for holding the raspberries
*The coconut oil is used to thin out the chocolate slightly, but you can skip it if preferred. You will need to add more chocolate chips if skipping the coconut oil.
Instructions:
Add the white chocolate chips and 1/2 tbsp of coconut oil to a small microwaveable bowl. Microwave in 30 second increments, stirring in between, until fully melted.
Place a raspberry on the end of a straw and dip one side of the raspberries against a spoonful of melted white chocolate. Rotate the raspberry until all sides are fully coated, but keep the layer light.
Place the raspberry on a parchment lined baking sheet. Repeat step 2 with all of the raspberries.
Place the raspberries in the freezer for at least 20 minutes.
Add the dark chocolate chips and 1/2 tbsp of coconut oil to a small microwaveable bowl. Microwave in 30 second increments, stirring in between, until fully melted.
Place the white chocolate covered raspberry onto a straw and repeat steps 2 and 3, this time with the dark chocolate.
Place the raspberries in the freezer for at least 30 minutes until hardened. Store in an airtight container in the freezer.
