Dark Chocolate Bark
Chocolate on its own is great, but add nuts and dried fruit and you turn it into a dessert worthy of your next party.
If you’re looking for a fool-proof dessert you can make this holiday season with minimal effort, then chocolate bark is the answer. All you have to do is melt some dark chocolate, spread it out on a baking sheet, and pile on your favorite toppings. Peppermint candy, pretzels, pumpkin seeds, chia seeds, caramel—the option are endless.
In this version you’ll find pistachios and almonds, which provide a little bit of protein and healthy fats a well as satisfying crunchy texture. Dried cranberries and cherries add a tart, sweet flavor that pairs perfectly with the dark chocolate. And a sprinkling of shredded coconut adds one more layer of texture and flavor.
Whether you’re looking for a holiday dessert or just want to give your daily dose of chocolate a nutrient and flavor boost, you’ll want to try this recipe.
Dark Chocolate Bark
Ingredients:
10 oz dark chocolate
1/4 cup roasted pistachios, chopped
1/4 cup sliced almonds
1/4 cup dried cranberries, roughly chopped
1/4 cup dried cherries, roughly chopped
2-3 tablespoons shredded coconut
1/4 tsp coarse or flaky sea salt
Instructions:
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
Melt the dark chocolate on the stove top over low heat, stirring continuously. Alternatively, melt the chocolate in the microwave in 30 second increments, stirring in between.
Pour the melted chocolate onto the parchment lined baking sheet. Spread the chocolate to desired thickness (recommend approximately 1/4 inch thickness).
Sprinkle the pistachios, almonds, cranberries, cherries, and coconut and finish with sea salt. Press down lightly on the toppings so they are set in the chocolate.
Refrigerate the bark for at least 1 hour and break or cut into pieces. Store in an airtight container in the fridge.
